AZJ Legal is a legal-technology hybrid law firm. We are both a regulated law firm and a technology company. We believe that the highest standard of legal services is now provided by a combination of experienced legal practitioners and state-of-the-art legal AI technology. 

Founded in 2017 

AZJ Legal was founded in 2017 by Anthony Jimenez as a specialist legal advisory practice designed as an alternative to large corporate law firms. From the outset, our focus has been on serving independent investment managers and high performing entrepreneurs and understanding their specific needs in a way that larger law firms often overlook. 

Anthony brought first hand insight to this mission, having previously served as Managing Director and General Counsel of the Gibraltar operations of a major London based wealth manager. That experience gave him a clear understanding of the pressures faced by investment managers and the type of legal support they require. He recognised that investment professionals need more than legal advice; they need continuous legal support that allows them to focus on client relationships and investment strategy, confident that their legal and contractual matters are in expert hands. 

A tailored service model 

Independent managers and entrepreneurs need more than legal advice delivered at arm’s length. They need a tailored service model that goes beyond the transactional approach of larger firms. Anthony believed the right legal partner must integrate into the client’s own operations, act swiftly and decisively, and bring the negotiation skill needed to secure the best outcomes in contracts and transactions. 

 In practice this means we work as an extension of the client’s team rather than an external supplier billing by the hour. We take the time to understand the business, its commercial objectives and its appetite for risk, so that our advice is grounded in how the client actually operates rather than in the abstract. The same senior lawyer stays close to the relationship, so there is no need to re-explain the background each time a new matter arises. 

It also means being genuinely available. Investment and corporate decisions rarely keep to office hours, and a tailored service is one that responds at the pace the matter demands, anticipates issues before they become problems, and gives clear, commercial answers rather than lengthy caveats. That responsiveness, combined with our own technology, is what allows a boutique firm to deliver the depth and speed clients would otherwise expect only from a much larger practice.  

One Lawyer, Start to Finish 

The lawyer you meet at the outset is the lawyer who runs your matter from start to finish. There are no handoffs to junior associates and no dilution of responsibility as a matter progresses. You work directly with senior, partner-level lawyers throughout. 

This model is deliberate. In larger firms, the partner who wins the work often passes its day-to-day conduct to more junior colleagues, and the client’s matter ends up spread thinly across a team. We take the opposite view. The lawyer who knows your business and your objectives is the one drafting your documents, leading your negotiations and answering your calls, so nothing is lost in translation and nobody is learning the file at your expense.

AZJ Intelligence, our flagship product, carries out the document heavy work that would traditionally justify a team of juniors, leaving our senior lawyers free to apply judgement, advise and negotiate. The result is a single, accountable point of contact, supported by technology rather than by layers of staff, and a relationship that deepens with every matter.
